Many of times the people we work with become more than just clients... they become friends! When I was in college, I waited tables at a local restaurant and I loved it because of the opportunity to meet new people. Many of our customers came in often - some came once a month, some came twice a week, and some came daily (believe it or not, some actually came multiple times a day!!). In some ways, our customers became our friends. I think that's one of the things that we love most about real estate is the opportunity to meet new people, get to know them, and help them with one of their biggest investments. We don't want to just be someone's real estate agent on a transaction. We want to be their life long Realtor, trusted advisor, and friends (well, I can think of a couple that I don't really want to be friends with... just being honest!). I recently closed a transaction with a couple in which I sold their daughter and son-in-law a house last year. There's nothing better than working with good people and getting to know their whole family! The image below is a note that they gave me at closing. Real estate isn't always the easiest job in the world. It can be extremely stressful and frustrating at times. Especially in a difficult market, it's the little things like this that make you believe that you have the best job in the world... helping people. Real estate is not a sales job. In many ways it can be compared to social services -- we're
helping people with a huge investment. We're not trying to sell or force a house on you like a used car salesman might. We're helping, assisting, and advising! As Steve Harney might say, we're doing so "with the heart of a teacher." This note made me smile! Thank you Tony & Gayle! :)
